Evergreen Eye Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Gary W. Chung has recently been selected to support research by SightLife, to improve the understanding of infectious keratitis or endophthalmitis related to donor tissue.
Dr. Chung will be part of the team working together to discover if yeast infections are on the rise, and how prevalent they are in relation to donor tissue. Dr. Chung will culture donor rims for aerobic, anaerobic and fungal organisms for each transplant that is performed whether PKP, DSEK or ALK. SightLife will be the repository for data collection and will collate the data.
The information contributed by Dr. Chung and other team participants will be stored and analyzed over a two year period to better understand the relationship between donor rims and the prevalence of yeast infections.
